Early Care & Education

ISPAN is working to integrate more physical activity and nutrition best practices into Early Care & Education (ECE) systems across Illinois. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Spectrum of Opportunities for State-Level Obesity Prevention Efforts Targeting ECE Settings provides a framework for this work.

ISPAN’s work includes:

• Advocating to bring state child care licensing standards into alignment with best practices for physical activity and nutrition.
• Integrating physical activity and nutrition best practices into professional development and trainings for child care providers.
• Supporting technical assistance providers in their work to help child care sites across the state improve practice around physical activity and nutrition best practices, including administering access to Go NAPSACC.
